Jed Curtis’ Images is a graphic score from 1962 – a series of lines, dots, words, shapes and symbols that float mysteriously across the five lines of a musical stave. Graphic scores can often look deceptively easy to play, but in fact they invite a multitude of questions and possibilities that mean musicians have to engage with them conceptually and intellectually, as well as musically. For this reason, they can be very demanding. For this MAKS ÅPEN rehearsal, BIT20 invites you to come and join us as we search for solutions to the interpretation of this enigmatic piece, which we will be performing at the 50th Anniversary of the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf later this month.
