Andakt with BIT20 Ensemble in Nykirken

Minimalism Full of Meaning
This evening is dedicated to Anton Webern, the Austrian composer known as the master of silence.

His finely chiselled, precise compositions are charged with weight, despite their sparing use of notes. Like a museum in which every object is deliberately placed and carefully curated, Webern’s selected tones are weighed and thoughtfully considered, while everything superfluous has been cut away.

"KLARHEIT! KLARHEIT! ÜBER ALLES KLARHEIT!"

– Webern

In a time when we are inundated with sound and impressions, the church space has gained a new appeal, and BIT20 Ensemble wishes to invite you to an introspective experience in Nykirken. Treat yourself to a pause and step into a space for reflection and great art.

Fanboy
Artistic director and conductor for the evening, Bjarni Frímann, may well be Webern’s biggest fanboy—and in his childhood bedroom there was a framed picture of the composer on his bedside table. Sit back this Tuesday evening as Bjarni tells you why Webern is so special.

On the church floor stands a full ensemble — ready to turn you into a fanboy or fangirl as well.
